An open letter to Mainline Churches:
You have been given much; and you have a lot to offer. Your message has been tested throughout the decades (or centuries!). You’ve led the way. You have also given others a chance to lead. And you’re getting ready for a restart. Your minister may preach from the Lectionary. Or your minister may preach in sermon series. Your church’s social ministry is always serving more and more people.
All of this … and you’re “stuck” with the task of building a website – a website that does all things for all people. It is to communicate the church’s hope; it is to be comprehensive, so that anything anyone would want to know about the church, they could find on the website; it is to be cool, hip, and something that will attract young people.
